Terms of use

These calculators produce estimates for planning. They are not tax advice and not a substitute for a qualified preparer.

What the estimates cover

The calculators model federal income tax withholding, Social Security and Medicare, state income tax and the employee-paid state programs listed for each state, at 2026 rates. They assume wage income and the standard deduction.

What they do not cover

They do not model itemized deductions, credits beyond the standard deduction, income from more than one job, a working spouse's income, self-employment or contract income, equity compensation, retirement distributions, or local taxes except where a state page says otherwise. Local rates set by individual jurisdictions in Indiana, Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Kentucky and Michigan need checking against your own address.

Your real paycheck also depends on what your employer has on file, including the Form W-4 you filed and any benefit elections, which we cannot see. A difference between our estimate and your stub usually traces to one of those.

No advice and no professional relationship

Using this site creates no advisory relationship. Nothing here is tax, legal, accounting or financial advice, and it should not be relied on for a filing position, an election, or a decision about your employment or retirement contributions. For those, speak to a qualified professional who can see your full circumstances.

Accuracy and liability

We take accuracy seriously, cite our sources, and label the figures we are less sure about. We cannot warrant that every figure is correct or current, because the underlying rules change and tables are reissued. To the fullest extent the law allows, we accept no liability for any loss arising from reliance on an estimate produced here. If you spot an error, our contact page explains how to report it and we will act on it.

Acceptable use

You are welcome to use these calculators for your own planning and to link to any page here. Please do not scrape the site at a rate that degrades it for other people, or republish our calculated tables wholesale as your own.
